About Crossroads for Women – Maya’s Place – Albuquerque
Maya’s House is one of two therapeutic communities run by Crossroads for Women. This is a transitional housing program in Albuquerque, New Mexico that provides trauma-informed therapeutic services to women exiting incarceration and experiencing co-occurring disorders. You must commit to a one year program.
Maya’s House takes a gender-responsive approach to treatment. This means that they aim to reduce gender inequalities in the community by uplifting women in seven domains, including legal, medical, mental health, and substance abuse recovery.
The structured living program emphasizes the importance of relationships in recovery. It also encourages women to address past, present, and future challenges head on. Women leave the program safe, healthy, and ready to support themselves and their children without addiction or mental health struggles. Vocational training, recovery education, and life skills education are provided to prepare clients to successfully reenter the workforce and the community.
It’s important to note that Maya’s house does not allow children or partners to live with clients.
Crossroads also offers permanent supportive housing and peer drop-in. Their permanent supportive housing program involves housing women experiencing homelessness and co-occurring disorders. Peer drop-in (PDI) involves supporting women and men facing behavioral health issues who are in need of recovery, housing, employment or food.
