About Cumberland River Behavioral Health – Harlan
Cumberland River Behavioral Health provides outpatient substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorder treatment at its location on Comprehensive Drive in Harlan, Kentucky. They offer various programs for adults with prevention programs for kids.
The center in Harlan takes many types of commercial insurance. This includes Medicare, Medicaid, Military, and self pay. They won’t turn you away if you’re unable to pay, and they offer a sliding scale fee based on your family size and income.
The substance use services include an outpatient and intensive outpatient program (IOP). The regular outpatient treatment program offers assessment, individual, and group therapy, substance use education, and DUI services.
DUI services include the Kentucky DUI Assessment Instrument. Once you’ve completed the assessment, you’ll be referred to the level of care most appropriate for your case. Depending on your situation, this can include 20 hours of residential treatment, intensive outpatient (IOP) or general outpatient (OP) treatment, and education.
The IOP is for adults 18 and older who have a substance dependency. It’s also for adults with underlying mental and behavioral health disorders. The facility has a contract with the Administrative Office of the Courts to provide services if there’s a medical necessity. The program lasts as long as six months.
The outpatient programs offer targeted case management, peer support services, and assertive community treatment (ACT). ACT provides psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support for mental illness through a team approach. You’ll have ongoing assessments, psychiatric services, and assistance for housing and employment as well as substance use services. The ACT services are available every day of the year, 24 hours a day.
The outpatient programs offer same day access. If you need an intake, you can go anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. You’ll need to bring any applicable health insurance cards, a driver’s license, a social security card, and a list of your current medications. It takes about 20 minutes to fill out the initial paperwork, but you’ll be able to see a clinician the same day. Your meeting with the clinician will be about an hour for the assessment and initial treatment.
