About Douglas Young Youth and Family Service – San Diego
Douglas Young Youth and Family Services is in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, California. They specialize in services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SEM) disorder and treat substance use disorder.
They treat children from 5 to 18 years of age. They’ll treat your child until the age of 21 if it’s appropriate. The child must have SEM or other conditions that meet the Title 9 Medical Necessity Criteria for Specialty Mental Health Services.
Your child will get a psychiatric evaluation and medication if needed. They also have individual, group and family counseling as well as case management. They offer crisis intervention and substance use treatment and prevention.
They accept MediCal and MediCal eligible patients, and they’ll also take you if you’re uninsured. They don’t deny services based on your ability to pay. The programs receive funding from HHSA, San Diego County and Behavioral Health Services. You can contact the program directly for a referral.
While some clients report dissatisfaction with treatment from staff, one former client said her 7 year old thrived there and connected well with her therapist.
