About Dynamite Youth Center – Fallsburg
The Dynamite Youth Center (DYC) location in Fallsburg, New York is a residential facility for adolescents and young adults and their families. The professional team at DYC has decades of experience treating teen substance abuse. The program includes high school education and preparation for work after graduation.
DYC works with the juvenile justice system both in Brooklyn and in their upstate location in Fallsburg to help young people get treatment and support instead of being jailed in a justice facility. The court advocacy helps youth get into the FreshStart Program or outpatient programs, depending on their needs.
The FreshStart Program helps high school aged youth who have substance use issues that are interfering with their education. Youth go to the onsite ReStart Academy where classes are small and each teen can get personalized support.
The program also includes individual and group counseling to address substance use disorder. There are also weekly family meetings to keep parents and loved ones involved. Each young person has house jobs they are responsible for to each them positive work habits and social skills.
If a youth is near graduation or already has a high school diploma, they can work with a vocational specialist to get employment counseling and help with goal setting, interviews and more.
Substance use generally impacts the whole family, not just the young person involved. DYC has specific programs for parents and other family members, including the weekly group meeting.
Parents are an important part of their child’s recovery and support network. It’s also important for parents to learn additional parenting skills and address any negative influences in the home as well. DYC parents often become strong supporters of the program even after their child graduates.
