About Ellis Medicine – Schenectady
Ellis Medicine is in Schenectady, New York. It’s an inpatient mental health facility with 36 beds for patients 18 years of age and older and a unit with 16 beds for children and adolescents ages 11-17. They provide services for those experiencing mental health crises and co-occurring disorders like alcohol and substance use disorders.
Their inpatient facility has psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, mental health counselors and registered nurses. Through safe and compassionate care, they provide individual and group therapy including art therapy and social/psychological education.
Adult outpatient alcohol and substance use disorder treatment is provided. Ellis also provides each adult patient with a case worker that will help them during the transition from inpatient to outpatient living. This includes connecting them to resources such as safe housing, financial assistance, transportation and health care resources.
For children and adolescents, Ellis provides outpatient mental health and co-occurring disorder treatment. Kids can participate in the New York State Certified School Program onsite to allow them to continue with their education while receiving inpatient services. Each patient works with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans that coordinate care with outside support resources such as their families, teachers, schools and community-based agencies.
All forms of commercial health insurance are accepted. Check your insurance provider to verify coverage and out-of-pocket expenses. Ellis also takes Medicaid insurance.
