One thing that stands out to me is that their staff are trained in verbal de-escalation techniques. If you are expediting a mental health crisis you will be met with immediate face-to-face counseling and intervention to ensure your overall safety and well-being.
Their crisis unit offers 48 hours of observation and stabilization to children, adolescents, and adults. If you’re in need of medication or psychiatric intervention, you’ll have access to a psychiatrist. Another thing that stands out to me is they strive to ensure all people get the mental health services they need through diversions from emergency rooms and jails. They’ll also make referrals to the El Paso Psychiatric Center if needed.
They partner with local law enforcement to ensure unnecessary incarceration for mental health issues. They also have Crisis Intervention Teams that will go out with law enforcement to handle different types of mental health crises and provide de-escalation strategies in the community.
