About Enlightened Recovery – Bala Cynwyd
Enlightened Recovery is an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They treat substance use and mental health disorders (dual diagnosis) and provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) if necessary. One of the nice things about this program is the flexibility with morning, afternoon and evening treatment programs. If you don’t have a car, the IOP is easy to get to on the Main Line, and they also have recovery housing nearby. You can use major insurance plans to cover costs of their program.
This comprehensive program offers both traditional and holistic therapies. One of the traditional treatment modalities is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). You can participate in CBT in group, individual, and family settings. You’ll have access to individual therapy at least once per week in addition to multiple group therapy sessions weekly. You’ll learn the 12 Step model of recovery, participate in meetings at the facility, and be encouraged to attend meetings off site.
Both CBT and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) are used for those with dual diagnoses of substance use and mental health disorders. Counselors help you identify the root causes of addiction and provide the necessary tools to manage your substance use and mental health challenges.
Mindfulness meditation is offered through the IOP and is a great technique for relapse prevention. You’ll learn to stay grounded in the moment to reduce anxiety and stress which often leads to relapse. While in the program you’ll learn several different meditation techniques.
Yoga is another of their therapy approaches that increases energy levels, improves mood and reduces cravings. Yoga connects your mind and body while providing moderate exercise.
Self expression is important when dealing with your mental health and substance use issues. It’s hard for some people to express themselves in meetings or therapy, so it’s great that the IOP offers additional creative therapies. These include music and art therapy.
Substance use depletes the body of essential nutrients. The IOP gives individual nutrition counseling to clients. You’ll learn how to create healthy meals to enhance your recovery. This comprehensive program allows you to work on your recovery in the real world while getting the high level of support you need to maintain sobriety.
