About Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch – Live Oak
Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a faith-based therapeutic community that offers high levels of care to troubled children and teens. Located in Live Oak, Florida, this center serves as their main administrative hub and gives you access to all their programs and services. They can help anyone between the ages of 8 and 18 who is experiencing substance use disorder, co-occurring disorders, mental health concerns or behavioral health concerns. They also help those involved with the juvenile justice system.
For many youths, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a life changing intervention program that gives them the structure and support they need to improve their futures. Depending on their situations, kids can join a gender-specific or co-ed residential program or summer camp program.
The residential programs are designed to give adolescents time in a loving and stable environment. It places a lot of emphasis on giving children a traditional family environment that helps them develop life skills necessary for long term recovery. The children live in homes with married couples who are trained in the Trust Based Relational Intervention model. This is a helpful method for facilitating trauma resolution and helping kids build lifelong coping skills.
As part of any of Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches program, children are expected to partake in faith-based learning based on Christian principles. They encourage children to work, study, play and pray: the four pillars of their philosophy. Each day, children attend school, chapel services, recreational activities and their on-campus jobs. When necessary, they’ll also attend counseling sessions and family engagement sessions to work through unresolved problems and help heal relationships with parents and siblings.
