About Forest County Potawatomi Health and Wellness Center – Crandon
The Forest County Potawatomi Health & Wellness Center is a Native American facility just off of US Hwy 8 in Crandon, Wisconsin. It’s situated in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, on the Forest County Potawatomi Indian Reservation. Services are primarily to the Tribal Nations and their families, but also to the community at large. They promote quality healthcare professionally and traditionally, and in a trusting, respectful, and confidential manner, for the health of the whole community.
In addition to an Alcohol and Drug Abuse program (ADOA), this facility provides the following general health services: Community health, dental, imaging, lab, optical, pharmacy, chiropractic, physical and speech therapy, orthopedic, pediatric, podiatry and women’s health and mental health.
Their AODA program is rooted in Native traditions and spirituality, combining 12 Step recovery with traditional and cultural teachings, individual and community based group therapy, education talks, and family participation. Cultural practices such as smudging (for purification), talking circles, storytelling (for learning from the past), and sweat lodges are incorporated into the sobriety treatment plan.
Local meetings are also available including Al-Anon, Ala-Teen, Narcotics Anonymous, and Alcoholics Anonymous.
Insurance via third party benefits and billing is accepted at this facility, as is Section 506 Recovery. A pricing system similar to Medicare is also employed.
The path to sobriety at this facility is centered on a system that believes that: All things are connected, All things have life, and All things are worthy of respect and reverence. Should you be a tribal or community member in or near Crandon, and desire an approach to sobriety that combines homeopathic Native American traditions and spirituality, this facility may be a good fit for you.
