Frederick Rescue Mission offers Christian centered residential substance abuse treatment via their Change Life Recovery Program. They’re located in Frederick, Maryland. Change Life Recovery serves men aged 21 to 60 affected by substance use disorders. These include those fresh out of prison and men experiencing homelessness. Those who have been kicked out of their home due to extended periods of chemical dependency can also benefit from this program.
The program employs Biblical teachings to guide you away from the worldly behavior that influences substance use. The recovery classes and all aspects of the program are based on Christian principles. The focus is on bringing you closer to Jesus Christ and ensuring complete healing while helping you return to your family and society as a responsible adult.
This year long program consists of two phases. The first six months is the residential phase during which you’ll focus on spiritual growth and developing life skills in a structured environment. You’ll begin each day with a quiet time and Bible study before attending recovery classes. In the afternoon you’ll participate in service work followed by Chapel, Bible classes and evening recovery groups. You’ll take on different roles within the Mission and put your classroom knowledge to work in real life situations that prepare you for lasting recovery and personal growth.
The second phase of the program places you in transitional housing. During this time you’ll focus on gaining independence and reintegrating into daily life while continuing your recovery. The goal is to complete your residential recovery with a GED or suitable education, accountability to a mentor or group and a stable job. This is in addition to becoming a passionate follower of Christ having overcome addiction. They also expect you to reconcile with family members and be actively connected in the local church community. This can streamline access to community resources for ongoing support.
