About Freedom Institute – New York
Freedom Institute is a nonprofit in New York City, New York, that provides outpatient treatment and recovery when you struggle with alcoholism, addiction, and related co-occurring mental health conditions. They offer in person and telehealth services to meet your specific needs based on a comprehensive evaluation of your situation. They were founded in 1976 by a recovering alcoholic after seeing the effects of her disease on her family.
They provide evidence-based treatments for adults, young adults, and their families who are impacted by alcohol, stimulants, inhalants, hallucinogens, dissociatives, psychedelics, opioids, and sedatives. Their services include an intensive outpatient program, weekly outpatient groups, and individual, group, and family therapies.
There’s also a holistic approach to addiction therapy to treat the whole person and their family. This includes mindfulness meditation, yoga, and art therapy.
The clinical foundation of their intensive outpatient program is the integration of dialectical behavior therapy and relational family therapy which helps you and your family in the recovery process. Medication assisted treatment is offered after an assessment by the medical director if it is indicated, using medications from the client’s preferred pharmacy.
They don’t take insurance but will provide a super bill so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company. The majority of clients pay their financial responsibilities by the week.
