About Gateway Free & Clean – St. Louis
Gateway Free & Clean in St. Louis, Missouri, is a drug and alcohol treatment program that provides intensive and supportive outpatient counseling and counseling while you are incarcerated. For over 40 years, they’ve been a nonprofit provider of therapy within correctional institutions offering alcohol and drug treatment services and cognitive programs within the prisons and jails.
The goal is to reduce recidivism and rebuild lives. The substance abuse assessment and treatment services first began in Cook County Jail in 1970. Today the programming is designed to meet your individual needs identified through an initial psychosocial and clinical assessment. These assessments continue throughout the treatment process ensuring that your clinician provides you with the targeted and specific services needed to reduce your risk of relapse and support your sustainable recovery.
The clinical assessments use evidence-based and standardized instruments including the Addiction Severity Index and a battery of assessments developed by Texas Christian University’s Institute of Behavioral Research. While assessments are a significant part of developing your treatment program, they have years of experience evaluating and assessing those in the criminal justice population. This has allowed them to offer assessment services as a standalone product.
They offer specialized institutional programs for special needs offenders, including people with co-occurring mental health conditions and those with physical or emotional disabilities. The gender specific, trauma informed programs use a variety of evidence based therapies to improve the efficacy and effectiveness of treatment.
They have been providing in custody correctional services for over 40 years in prisons with a 103% to $376% return on their investment. The programs are structured for those in jail, on probation, prison, and parolees. The therapeutic treatment model operates in collaboration and partnership with correctional facilities to successfully operate addiction treatment and mental health condition programs.
