About Gavin Foundation – Cushing House – Boston
Cushing House is actually made up of two houses in South Boston, Massachusetts. They’re both part of the Gavin Foundation, which provides treatment for substance abuse. The Cushing houses are intended for adolescents, ages 16-20. One house is for girls and one for boys.
Both houses have the same programs. The day starts with mediation, followed by house meetings, then group discussions. Their therapy is based on AA and the 12 Steps, meaning that you’ll have time for reflection and to learn from others. There’s also downtime for health exercises, sports, art, and learning life skills.
Cushing House also has a program for parents. Since the facility networks with juveniles in the justice system and struggling students with behavioral difficulties, there’s an array of family resources and support programs. You’ll have a chance to meet other parents and form your own networks for your families and your kids.
