About Geisinger Community Medical Center – Scranton

The Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast is a specialized health facility for behavioral health care including drug and alcohol addiction. It’s an inpatient treatment center so you’ll live in the facility during your program.

At this treatment center they primarily offer addiction treatment for people who have co occurring disorders. That means you have drug or alcohol addiction as well as a mental health or behavioral health condition like depression or schizophrenia or PTSD.

What I find most interesting about this inpatient program is the varied and integrative approach they use. The therapists and specialists here will combine different treatment strategies to give you a one of a kind program. That includes tried and true methods like cognitive behavioral therapy and group counseling. It also includes more expressive and creative methods like art therapy and music therapy and even dance therapy.

It’s also important to note that they take an approach of trauma informed care. The team here understands that you may have trauma in your past and their treatment will be sensitive to this while also aiming to help you heal.
