About Gratitude Retreat Foundation – Torrance
The Gratitude Retreat Foundation funds sober-living facilities and sponsors individuals who’ve come out of an alcohol or drug rehab program and need a supportive step-down home environment. They provide funding for adults who apply to approved residential aftercare facilities in Torrance, California.
Sober-living homes provide a supportive environment as a bridge for those who’ve completed an addiction recovery program. By providing a structured environment with routines and responsibility, they equip residents with life skills to prepare them for reentering society.
To get funding from the Gratitude Retreat Foundation, a sober living home must offer weekly 12 Step meetings for residents and outside clients. These 12 Step programs are peer support groups that help those recovering from substance abuse disorders. They learn how to avoid relapse triggers, overcome addiction, and gain skills to live a healthy life.
While the Gratitude Retreat Foundation operates on donations and fundraising, recipients of sober living ‘soberships’ may be referred to other facilities for medical, physical, or mental health treatment. These additional treatments may be covered in full or in part by major insurers such as Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, Bright Health, or Humana.
