About Guildhaus – Blue Island
Guildhaus Halfway House is a recovery home for men in addiction treatment, located in Blue Island, Illinois. They provide residential treatment services to help clients break free from the cycle of addiction and return home healthier and happier. They have the capacity to treat 22 men at a time.
The residential setting is stately and comfortable, allowing clients to feel right at home as they begin their customized treatment plans. Each week, clients will attend group therapy and individual therapy. They will also participate in life skills training and on site 12 step recovery group sessions so they can re-enter their communities safely and successfully once treatment is complete.
Work therapy is another component of their treatment. The men in recovery work alongside staff members at a local soup kitchen every weekend. They also socialize, eat dinner together, and participate in recreational activities with their fellow residents to build a sense of camaraderie and group accountability. After about a month of residential treatment, they’re expected to secure employment so they can start paying toward their fees.
In all, the residential Halfway House program is designed to last for 90 days. Once this timeline is complete, clients will be reassessed to determine their progress. If they’re ready to transition into a lower level of care, they may move into one of the staff beds at the facility, the nearby Recovery House, or a local sober living apartment.
In my research, I found reviews from individuals whose loved ones completed residential treatment at the facility. They noted that the staff never stops looking out for the clients, and they continue to offer support and resources even after services end. Clients also noted that even when they had nothing to contribute, the program still took them in and got them back on their feet.
