About Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center – Havre de Grace
Located in the small town of Havre de Grace near the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, is Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center. The recovery center is CARF accredited and treats patients with substance use disorder and mental health issues, including co-occurring disorders. They have several different levels of treatment including residential, partial hospitalization (PHP) and an intensive outpatient (IOP) program. They also have an extended care residential program.
They accept insurance from many major providers and are in-network with more than 10 companies. Staff at the center will work with you to find ways of covering treatment costs.
The center has a special First Responders program that offers confidential addiction treatment for police officers and emergency personnel. The program is Fraternal Order of Police approved. They treat firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, corrections officers and active and retired military personnel. The program helps you through the challenges unique to first responders.
For individual therapy, female first responders meet only with female therapists. You’ll have a chance to work on issues related to trauma and abuse through innovative techniques such as brainspotting.
The inpatient program includes medically supervised detox with monitoring throughout by nurses. A psychiatrist supervises the program. During the inpatient program, you’ll have medication management as well as group and individual therapy. You’ll work on getting to the bottom of your substance use which may include a co-occurring disorder such as anxiety, depression or another mental health issue.
There are recreational activities like weight training, daily walking and drumming. The center has a fitness center with spin bikes, ellipticals and treadmills. There are weights, a bench and kettlebells. You’ll also have a chance to do yoga and meditation and learn about proper nutrition with kitchens stocked with healthy choices.
In the PHP, you’ll stay in a local recovery house. You’ll participate in daily educational groups. You’ll also have cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and experiential therapy. It’s here that you’ll put your new coping skills to the test in everyday environments. You’ll work on treatment goals, need statements and strategies to sustain your recovery.
