About Haven House – Oxford

Based in Oxford, Mississippi, Haven House is a facility operating under Communicare, a organization that specializes in treatment for mental health, dual-diagnosis, addiction and substance abuse. Their services are broadly available to clients of all ages but Haven House offers its residential care exclusively to adults.

Treatment here is community based and tends to be solution focused. Crisis stabilization is a priority and is managed through behavioral health assessments.

This location happens to be one of Communicare’s dedicated residential treatment facilities. It’s designed to offer addiction treatment and support for individuals with concurrent mental health issues by offering residents a clear understanding of their condition.

This is done through regular education sessions as well as a holistic, rounded treatment approach that puts the person first. Treatment is tailored to meet individuals’ unique needs and preferences while combining elements like yoga, meditation and appreciation for the arts, music and natural world to help individuals in their healing. These activities and elements are also thought to offer residents new perspectives and ways to help them manage and come to terms with their life’s challenges.

Haven House was established in 1978 and offers a 48-bed program to support individuals from Mississippi and beyond. Addiction treatment here may involve individual, group and family therapy. Peer support services and medication management are also offered, as well as a specialized employment support service. This is designed to help individuals prepare for and eventually find, and maintain stable work as they get back on their feet post-recovery.

Levels of Care

Outpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Partial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Programs

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
