About HCMC Shapiro Building — Adult Psychiatry Unit – Minneapolis
Across the street from U.S. Bank Stadium, home to the Minnesota Vikings, is the Hennepin Healthcare Campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This massive facility spans about seven city blocks and includes a true one-stop shop for all medical needs. The Psychiatric Unit is located in the Shapiro building on the first floor and offers many programs for mental health.
This was one of my favorite programs because it focuses on individuals who may be experiencing their first psychotic episode. Using a model called NAVIGATE individuals are helped instantly to understand their condition and develop methods to cope.
With medication management they can use low-dose antipsychotics tailored to your needs. When the HOPE program is completed, patients should have a better understanding of their treatment and goals preventing future episodes of hospitalization.
Eligible individuals for this service are patients with serious mental health issues like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or major depression. Some benefits you can expect from this program is an increased function in your everyday life, better relationships with family and preparing to return to school or work with a new outlook on life.
