About Helen Farabee Centers – Wichita Falls
Helen Farabee Centers is a nonprofit community-based treatment and support organization with 11 service locations in north-central Texas. The Wichita Falls facility includes a behavioral health clinic offering drug rehab services for teens and adults. They also provide dual diagnosis care for people with other severe and persistent forms of mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Research suggests that, in addition to medication assisted therapy (MAT), mental health counseling can be an integral part of recovery. Often, substance abuse is a maladaptive coping mechanism for trauma and hardships, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACE), sexual assault, or chronic illness.
Moreover, addiction can severely impact a person’s mental well-being and relationships, feeding a vicious cycle of despair and isolation. The clinicians at the Helen Farabee Centers aim to help clients escape that cycle and achieve long-term health through a combination of MAT, psychiatric counseling, education, relapse prevention services, and support groups.
You can access the Wichita Falls clinic anytime from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with or without an appointment. Walk-ins are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. When you enroll, you’ll receive an initial screening and assessment. Based on the outcome, the staff will make individualized treatment recommendations which may include detox and inpatient (IP) or outpatient (OP) care.
Depending on their care needs, established clients may be able to take advantage of evening programs (for adults) and afternoon programs (for teens). You can also contact their crisis intervention services line 24/7 for emergency care.
If you’re preparing to transition out of long-term hospitalization then you may also benefit from the center’s transitional living facility. Here, residents can live for one year or more in a safe, supportive, supervised environment while building the foundation for a healthy future.
