Programs last anywhere from 30 days to 12 months and they start with an orientation that emphasizes a healing approach centered on Christ. Building on the previous phase, each one establishes objectives and roles that are essential to its successful conclusion. The focus is on spiritual practices necessary for long-term healing which are accomplished through community living, work therapy, individual and group counseling and classroom instruction.
Personalized services are arranged by licensed counselors who assist clients in recognizing harmful thought patterns and emotional scars associated with their addictions. Counseling sessions focus on helping participants create plans for success after the program and increase their awareness of God’s purpose in their lives. Group sessions build trust, accountability and support for encouraging peer sharing of experiences through focus groups, workshops and cottage meetings.
Building relationships with God and learning the fundamentals of Christian recovery are given top priority in this program. Journaling, corporate and personal devotions, organized quiet times, and engaging worship services all contribute to spiritual development. Following a week-long orientation, clients attend classes that cover topics such as relapse or recovery skills, biblical life application, emotional healing and basic life skills like work ethic and money management.
Clients are given daily therapeutic work opportunities in housekeeping, food service, and other areas emphasizing the importance of a Christian work ethic in recovery. GED programs are offered on campus through educational partnerships and are accessible to individuals without a high school diploma. After completing the program a computer lab helps people develop the fundamental computer literacy skills they need to succeed in life.
