About Horizon House at Susquehanna Park – Philadelphia
Residential treatment services for drug and alcohol abuse and addiction are provided by Horizon House at Susquehanna Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These services are available for male adults only. A therapeutic community with scheduled stays ranging from six to 12 months is the basis of their residential treatment model. Their treatment approach centers on the re-socialization of the individual and involves the staff, other residents and the greater community.
Developing personal accountability responsibility and leading a socially productive life are the main goals of their addiction treatment. The course of treatment is very regimented and occasionally confrontational. Activities are tailored for individuals to examine their damaging beliefs, self-concepts and destructive patterns of behavior so they may adopt positive constructive and harmonious ways to treat themselves and others.
The services offered by this program are provided to help adult men maintain recovery and abstain from using drugs or alcohol. Initiating and maintaining relationships with others, setting realistic goals for education or employment to achieve financial independence, and securing housing upon discharge are just a few of the comprehensive services offered. They help individuals to establish stable lifestyles with positive recovery habits.
This program accepts referrals from the Girard Medical Centers, Behavioral Access Center, and Safe Haven shelter systems as well as street outreach programs. They also offer residential drug and alcohol treatment services. Moving from residential treatment to independent living can sometimes require additional support for individuals to maintain their recovery.
For adult male graduates of the Department of Behavioral Health and Philadelphia County Behavioral Health funded programs, they provide transition services to assist those with this need. Reset, a refresher program, offers assistance in finding long term housing, skill development with a certified peer specialist, and counseling with a drug and alcohol specialist. Step down services are also offered to adult males who still need to work toward their recovery objectives.
