About Horizon Village: Freedom Village – Sanborn
Freedom Village is a residential rehabilitation program for male veterans and first responders, operating as part of Horizon Health Services in Sanborn, New York. If you are experiencing substance use disorder or a mental health condition, this center is designed to treat both. You do not have to meet the criteria for veteran status to qualify for program participation. The only requirements are a chemical dependency diagnosis and some level of military experience. Most clients pay for their treatments with the Public Service benefit provided by the Department of Social Services. Sliding scale fees are also available based on income and they also accept private insurance.
The 25 bed facility is designed to be as serene and peaceful as possible, giving you all the comforts of home in a safe, sober environment with 24/7 medical supervision. When you first begin treatment, you’ll work closely with a dedicated team of providers who will assess your condition, learn about your medical history and recovery goals, and develop a customized treatment plan to fit your needs. Trauma informed care is available, along with an array of evidence based treatments such as individual and family counseling, vocational services, educational programming, wellness workshops, and art therapy. You can also receive primary medical care during your stay.
There are also several specialty tracks available for clients with specific needs. If you are at a high risk of relapse, currently overcoming grief or loss, or require extra support with coping skills and anger management, your providers will help you work through these challenges. You’ll also have access to the Village’s onsite fitness center and workout rooms.
If your team determines that outpatient counseling or psychiatric services would benefit your recovery, they can refer you to those outside providers and help you attend treatments.
