About ICL – Halsey House – Bushwick
ICL – Halsey House in Brooklyn, New York, provides a variety of services for people who are homeless or have a mental illness, learning disability or substance use disorder. They recognize that these issues can happen to anyone at any time in their life. They offer programs throughout the five boroughs where you are treated like a unique individual and not identified by a diagnosis or symptom. They are a nonprofit organization and accept donations to help cover costs, including corporate sponsorships and campaigns.
After your admission your customized treatment program uses a trauma informed approach that consistently reduces the need for emergency room visits and hospitalizations. They begin your treatment where you are, without making assumptions or requiring that you’ve reached a certain level of recovery. The goal is to help you live a healthier and more fulfilling life. The services are built on four pillars – a person centered, trauma informed, recovery oriented and integrated health model.
Instead of treating the symptoms they address the whole person using a full range of behavioral health approaches. Supportive housing and a strengths based approach help you move through the program and plan the next stage in your life. You may live in homes alongside others who have had a history of mental health and substance use disorders. Some people have come from prisons, state hospitals or adult homes. Each level of housing has a specific eligibility criteria. Their Central Access team assesses your situation and determines the best fit for you.
