About Interim House West Inc – Philadelphia

Interim House West in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is a residential treatment program for women struggling with substance use disorder. It’s one of the few locations that allows mothers to bring their children to the facility. The children will be able to continue their education while the client is receiving treatment.

The facility will focus on addressing specific issues that influence women to use substances. Some topics that may be brought up in individual or group counseling sessions include family conflict, low self esteem and abuse. Your counselor will use evidence based techniques such as dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to heal from your trauma and learn how to live a sober lifestyle.

Interim House West allows mothers to bring up to three children to the facility that are no older than 12 years old. While you’re receiving treatment, your children will be enrolled in schools near the facility.

In the afternoon when students return, they’ll be provided snacks and get help with homework until mothers can come to get them. When clients are there in the summer, their children can participate in camp activities to stay occupied.

The facility provides parenting classes to their clients to help them know how to raise their children in a positive and healthy environment. The class touches on various issues such as teaching your child how to play properly and more serious topics like abuse.

When you complete your residential treatment, you can begin focusing on finding activities to help you live a sober lifestyle. One option nearby that might be interesting for you and your children to visit is the Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center. It features relaxing landscaped grounds and a mural exhibit.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
