About James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital – Tampa
The James A. Haley VA Hospital is part of the Veterans Affairs network of health providers for active military, Veterans, and their dependents. The campus is located in Tampa, Florida. The clinic is outpatient only and provides many services, including mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, including medication assisted treatment (MAT). The clinic accepts VA benefits along with most major insurance providers, Medicaid, and Medicare.
The City of Tampa is on Tampa Bay along the Gulf Coast of Florida. There’s something for everyone in Tampa, including outdoor adventurers, foodies, and families with kids. The treatment center is less than two miles from the University of South Florida’s Botanical Gardens.
The SUD program consists of evidence based treatment modalities. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and other therapies proven to be effective for the treatment of addiction. MAT is available for the treatment of opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use disorders.
Many clients with SUD have co occurring mental health disorders. For clients with co occurring disorders, they’ll receive help simultaneously for those and SUD.
Nutrition plays a big role in health, and the clinic provides nutrition, food, and dietary care services. Substance use depletes vital nutrients from your body, so a good nutrition program is crucial to your recovery.
Clients can work closely with a registered dietician to develop a custom dietary plan. The right eating plan can assist with cardiovascular and heart health, weight management, diabetes management, chronic kidney disease, and other illnesses.
There are a number of other supportive services offered at this clinic. These include, but aren’t limited to, orthopedics, optometry, pain management, plastic and reconstructive surgery, podiatry, and more. There is also a pharmacy at this location.
