About Juel Fairbanks – Saint Paul
Juel Fairbanks is a Native American founded addiction treatment facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This facility provides prevention and recovery services to the Native American community along with other underserved populations. They pride themselves on being able to offer culturally specific services that can help promote healing. The organization began as a halfway house for Native American men in 1970. Over time, residential and outpatient programs were added to further provide assistance to those who were struggling with substance abuse.
Located on North Albert Street, it’s conveniently 15 minutes away from both downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul. Minneapolis is known for its vibrant arts scenes and beautiful lakes, while St. Paul has a variety of museums and historic neighborhoods. Both cities offer outlets for relaxation, reflection and sober outings with your recovery peers.
The residential treatment program has 24 beds available and provides a 90 day low intensity treatment service. You’ll work with licensed alcohol and drug counselors in group and individual counseling. You’ll be expected to participate in these sessions for a minimum of 15 hours a week. The facility offers AA and NA meetings to complement counseling work. In addition to counseling, Native American culture services and acupuncture can also be provided as a part of treatment. Case managers are available at the facility to help clients receive assistance with attaining education, employment and permanent housing. Their outpatient program is similar in treatment but requires attendance of multiple individual and group sessions four days a week before being downgraded to two days a week.
Juel Fairbanks is unique in offering a variety of holistic treatments, such as pipe ceremonies, talking circles and smudging. Additionally, you can participate in daily meditation and recreational therapy. A certified food manager is also at the facility to make sure residents have healthy meals that support their recovery.
