About Kemmerer Village – Assumption
Kemmerer Village is a child and family services center in Assumption, Illinois. It was actually established in the early 1900s and started as an orphanage. Over time it evolved into what it is today which is a broad child services nonprofit organization that helps kids and families with a variety of needs including behavioral health issues like drug and alcohol use.
One way they can help is with their residential treatment program. This program is for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 who struggle with any number of behavioral health issues. Your child will have therapy with qualified therapists and counselors while they live in a comfortable and homelike setting in cozy cottages.
Along with the residential program they have recreational therapy here for kids and teenagers too. This lets kids enjoy therapeutic activities like art therapy and physical fitness and music therapy as well as team sports and individual sports. There are hobby based activities too to help kids enjoy learning new skills and developing healthy new interests. Your child can also take advantage of equine therapy and pet therapy at this treatment center.
Previous clients are mixed about their experiences. There are lots of clients and parents that loved the care and results they got from this program, while others didn’t. But a lot of the clients who were treated here say that they didn’t appreciate or recognize the value of the program while they were there and only realized how it helped them and how they changed afterward.
