About La Frontera Center – Sonora House – Tucson
The Sonora House was a safe haven that operated under La Frontera Center. This was a residential home in Tucson, Arizona that offered a safe place for unsheltered men to live as they worked through addiction struggles. Unlike most sober homes that are strictly alcohol free, the Sonora House worked with men in all stages of recovery, including those who were still struggling with that often difficult first step to seek care.
Unfortunately, this Safe Haven shelter has since closed its doors. La Frontera Center, however, is still operational and continues to provide a wealth of addiction treatment, recovery, and housing services to men and women throughout the region.
The Sonora House allowed men to live in a safe and supportive home where they could refocus their life and recovery goals. You would have found a supportive group of residents living here as well.
The residents engaged in a lot of community activities with one another. For example, the residents started a garden that encourages them to engage in healthy, productive habits like goal setting, structured routine, and teamwork.
Overall, the residents here built a supportive community that they could turn to when they needed it. It was also a community where you felt encouraged and empowered to seek out recovery services when you were ready.
Many of the people who lived in the Sonora House continue to receive services through La Frontier Center. This might include counseling for their addiction or mental health struggles, access to specialized groups like DUI programming Family Support Services, and even veteran services.
You would have also had access to medication assisted treatment and other therapies to help you on your journey to recovery.
