About Lafourche Behavioral Health Center – Raceland
The South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority provides CARF accredited treatment for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and other addictions, and those with mental health disorders. They have several locations including the Lafourche Behavioral Health Center in Raceland, Louisiana. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, military insurance, tribal funds, and more.
The Raceland location sits at the edge of the Bayou Lafourche in an area rich in Cajun heritage, known as the “Sauce Piquante Capital of the World” for its unique and spicy cuisine. The center offers priority admission to pregnant women with an IV drug use or substance use issue and individuals using IV drugs. The SUD treatment services include medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients with opioid or alcohol use disorders.
MAT is used in conjunction with counseling to help individuals explore the root of their drug dependence. Understanding the triggers and contributing factors of addiction helps clients better manage sobriety. Group therapy and peer support specialists provide additional support.
Many people with SUD have a co occurring mental health disorder that contributes to their substance use. The center offers mental health treatment for clients with and without SUD.
They also recognize that some groups have additional stressors contributing to both mental health and SUD issues. They offer targeted group therapy for adolescents, women, men, and those in the LGBTQ+ community.
Group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management are all available for clients dealing with mental health issues. They have a special PTSD program that utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and is for youth ages 7 to 18.
Clients who meet the eligibility criteria can enroll in the anger management education and treatment program. They also offer marriage and family therapy and psychiatric evaluations.
Louisiana is also known for its 24/7 casino which means some individuals may present with a gambling addiction. It’s nice that the outpatient gambling services here are free. They include group therapy, individual therapy, education, and community outreach. They can offer referrals to inpatient gambling treatment if appropriate.
