About Lahey Hospital & Medical Center – Burlington
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, a member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health System, provides comprehensive medical and behavioral health care for residents of Burlington, Massachusetts, and the greater Boston region. Their behavioral health and substance use treatment programs serve adults 18 years old and older. They accept most commercial insurance and managed care plans, Medicare and Massachusetts Medicaid.
Individuals facing a mental health or addiction crisis can speak with a qualified crisis professional 24 hours a day seven days per week. Their mobile intervention service can also be dispatched to Andover, Lawrence, Methuen and North Andover to meet with individuals at their homes, schools, outpatient clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and aging centers. They can provide emergency psychiatric assessments, intervention and stabilization and make referrals to the appropriate level of care.
Often people experiencing addiction need medically supervised detox. This is especially true with alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine and certain stimulant abuse. Lahey Health System offers 24/7 medically supervised detox services that provide physician-led withdrawal using a variety of FDA approved medications and interventions. These provide the stabilization needed to focus on the next step in recovery.
For individuals who require acute treatment for substance use disorder but do not require medical detox, Lahey offers a Clinical Stabilization Service program (CSS). On average individuals stay in the program for 10 to 14 days. They receive treatment that focuses on symptom management through education, aftercare planning, case management, skill building and therapy.
Not all individuals with substance use disorder need inpatient treatment. At Lahey they offer a wide variety of services including partial hospitalization programs (PHP), individual and group therapy and medication management. They can also assist individuals with co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders and PTSD.
Their outpatient services help individuals create a life without addiction. These programs utilize a variety of talk therapies, skill building programs and relapse prevention support. Because families are also impacted by addiction they offer family therapy and couples counseling services.
