About Lexington Mental Health – Lexington
Addiction and mental health care is a vital service that every community needs and you can’t always rely on private businesses to offer it consistently or affordably. That’s why Lexington, South Carolina has Lexington Mental Health. This is an outpatient treatment center for residents of Lexington County that’s operated by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
Your treatment here will be based on whatever it is that you need including drug and alcohol addiction recovery. You’ll have individual therapy but you’ll also have group therapy where you’ll be with other people who are recovering from addiction. They have family therapy as well to help you and your family understand how they can support your recovery.
Something about this treatment center that I think is most notable is the fact that they’re both an addiction treatment center and a mental health treatment center. If you’re one of the many people who has a co-occurring mental health condition alongside your addiction then they can treat that here as well and they can make sure your addiction counseling and mental health treatment work together. They have psychiatric care too which means they can provide mental health medications if needed.
This facility serves adults as well as kids and adolescents. They even have specialized services for kids and teens too like a juvenile justice program and services that coordinate with your child’s school.
While this treatment center does provide an important service that the community needs the feedback isn’t very good. I noticed a lot of clients saying that they felt the care here was lackluster and that they would have long wait times when they needed more urgent care like a follow-up after hospitalization. Several clients also say that the clinic often cancels appointments with little notice. A lot of the feedback seems to be typical of a public facility that doesn’t get all the funding it needs.
