About Lighthouse Counseling – Albuquerque

Lighthouse Counseling was a private drug and alcohol addiction treatment center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, although they have now closed. Albuquerque is the state’s largest city, located near the Sandia Mountains. The area offers vibrant arts, diverse cuisine, and outdoor recreation along the scenic Rio Grande River.

This counseling center provided mental health counseling through a Christian and biblical worldview. They used evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectical behavior therapy with a focus on spirituality to help you cope with daily stressors in your life.

They accepted you whether you had a specific Christian faith or not. The therapist created a safe space for you to explore your issues in a comfortable environment. They recognized that faith began at conversion but continues to grow throughout your life.

At this counseling center they worked on many of the issues that affect people’s lives, including substance abuse and addiction counseling. Treatment was provided on an outpatient basis Monday through Friday and on Saturdays. They had an after hours crisis hotline where you could receive immediate emotional support and help.

They also offered treatment for other issues that are commonly found in people and their families who struggle with addiction. These can include relationship problems, depression, anxiety, anger management, domestic violence, and grief. They also addressed post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder, and supported the military personnel pre and post deployment. Each of these mental health challenges can also be diagnosed if you have a substance use disorder.

Their therapy staff included licensed social workers, licensed mental health clinicians, and licensed clinical professional counselors. They accepted most major insurance providers in the local area, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. They also had a sliding scale if you are uninsured or underinsured.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
