About Long Island Consultation Center – Elmhurst
Long Island Consultation Center (LICC) is a nonprofit organization in Elmhurst, New York, that provides addiction support and mental health services to individuals and families. The center has a wide array of staff trained in various subdisciplines of therapy and psychiatry, allowing them to offer individual, group, play, and family therapy. They also employ this expertise within their substance use disorder (SUD) program in a few unique ways.
LICC’s policy is to treat addiction disorder like any other disease, with specialized care and medication (if necessary). Their goal is to strengthen their patients into resilient individuals who can participate fully in society.
They achieve this by assessing their patient’s individual needs and giving each patient a unique and structured (but flexible) array of programs. These programs include therapy sessions in one on one or group sessions, as well as therapy sessions that include the patient’s family in their recovery process. Because LICC is staffed by psychiatric professionals, they can also give medically assisted treatment.
A considerable part of LICC’s mental health service centers around helping couples and families with all kinds of mental health struggles. These same professionals work in the SUD program and are able to help teenagers as young as 13 (and their families) deal with addictions.
They will work to address any unique difficulties within the patient’s family while also giving their patient age appropriate assistance. Their offices are also set up to assist with any co occurring disorders their patients may have.
