MainGeneral offers inpatient care for adults dealing with mental health and substance use disorders in Augusta, Maine. They also provide nine months of residential treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. You’ll be moved to residential or outpatient care for continued treatment upon stabilization. What I find fascinating about MainGeneral is how they bring together specialists from various fields to provide quality personalized care.

Their multidisciplinary team comprises psychiatrists, psychologists and occupational therapists. Hospitalists, nurses and social workers are also part of the team. These professionals facilitate lasting recovery through proven therapeutic practices in their residential program.

They adopt a “whole person” treatment approach that provides extra support, education and skills necessary for robust recovery foundations. This foundation is the recipe for successful community reintegration and lasting sobriety.

The residential program incorporates medication assisted treatment as a core service. This recovery solution uses FDA approved medicine and counseling to treat substance use disorder. The facility uses Suboxone in this case to manage withdrawal symptoms.

This enables you to participate in group and individual counseling to address the psychological aspect of the addiction. The group sessions cut across multiple beneficial recovery aspects. This includes relapse prevention, life skill development and vocational education.

Additional services include medical care, psychiatric medication and comprehensive aftercare services. The latter may include referral to community based 12-step AA and NA groups or connection to community services such as housing assistance, educational and employment opportunities.

Inpatient
