About Maryland Wellness and Recovery – Kensington
Maryland Wellness and Recovery is a well established community recovery organization that is dedicated to helping men and women achieve a life of health, wellness, and lasting sobriety. Located in Bethesda, Maryland, this center offers a continuum of services that will start you on a path toward recovery. Among these services are outpatient care, telehealth support, and medication assisted treatment.
While all of these services are impactful, their housing program really stands out to me because it gives you the opportunity to live in a safe and supportive environment while you receive these recovery critical supports. Applying to the housing process is not complicated which makes it easier for you to get the care you need.
Through the general outpatient and partial hospitalization program, you can expect to find evidence based therapies. This includes everything from individual to group counseling education and skills development.
Their skills development approach is robust. You’ll learn how to practice certain behaviors that will minimize your risk of relapse. For example, you’ll learn how to refuse drugs and alcohol when you find yourself in institutions that might lead to relapse.
You’ll also learn how to develop a positive mindset, be assertive in the right manner and how to manage stress. These are all factors that are known to defend against relapse, and understanding how to tackle them is essential to your recovery.
Their gender separated housing program provides you with six months of supportive and safe housing. It’s worth recognizing that the housing program has several rules like a first 30 day blackout and regular counseling check ins.
These rules have made some former clients who have gone through the program here feel stripped away of their freedoms. However many others say that it’s this structured approach that’s allowed them to truly focus on their recovery.
