About Maya’s House – Cairo
Maya’s House is a residential substance abuse treatment program located in Cairo, Georgia. They provide support for pregnant and postpartum women and mothers with children by helping remove the obstacle of addiction so employment can be obtained and poverty can be diminished. Maya’s House offers residential treatment services and aftercare.
Residential treatment at Maya’s House requires that all participants must detox prior to admission. They give priority to women who are pregnant or who are in a condition to benefit and utilize what this program can offer them. The 12 month residential addiction treatment program focuses on initially providing highly structured care for those who need a safe place to begin their treatment process. As stability is achieved, skills development, education, and the power of new lifestyle choices are introduced. They utilize a multidisciplinary approach to family counseling, psychotherapy, self image therapy, and psychodrama. Children participate in therapeutic childcare services offered onsite while their mothers are receiving treatment.
Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life. Individual therapy will be catered to address the needs of each individual and will serve to create a solid foundation for recovery. This treatment method can be continued upon discharge.
Group therapy involves treatment through the process of connecting in a group setting to discuss and work through mental, emotional, and physical issues. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, and psychoeducation. Children undergo interaction with other children, providing a connection therapy that helps stimulate a positive sense of self when relating to others.
Maya’s House offers continual care and support to alumni. Group therapy may be continued at alternative locations upon completion of the program. The center may make referrals to outside drug rehab programs.
