Fountain Centers are the alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers in the Mayo Clinic Health System. Albert Lea, Minnesota is home to one of these Fountain Centers.

This Fountain Center has programs of different levels based on your addiction and what you need for recovery. It has a residential program for adult men. In this program, you’ll live at the treatment center while you receive treatments like therapy and group therapy plus classes in addiction education and relapse prevention skills.

If you need a longer program than that 30 day residential program, there’s an extended care program as well. This program for adults is residential too and it lasts up to 90 days. It’s mainly for people who are at an especially high risk of relapse and need more time for intensive treatment before they’re stable enough to live on their own.

On the flip side, for people who don’t need residential treatment, there are outpatient services at this clinic. Outpatient therapy is available for adults and adolescents. There’s also a preventative class about adolescent chemical health. For teens ages 13-17, especially if they’re starting to experiment with drugs or alcohol or are at risk, this class teaches them the effects that addiction can have on their lives and helps them learn strategies for staying sober.

The programs at Fountain Centers use a lot of tried and true addiction treatment methods but they also incorporate findings from new research. Most of the program uses motivational techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy, but it also uses the 12 Step principles and in some cases uses medication to help with withdrawal and cravings. They also get your family involved because addiction involves the whole family. So they’ll help your family with coping skills and with understanding your addiction and how they can help your recovery.
