About MCCA – McDonough House and Detox – Danbury
MCCA, which stands for Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism, is a non profit organization that provides substance use evaluation and treatment in Danbury, Connecticut. Clients can receive medically monitored detox services at their facility. They also offer medically monitored inpatient services at the McDonough House.
The organization began operating in 1972 to address the needs of individuals and families dealing with the challenges of substance abuse. In the decades since they’re opening they’ve expanded to providing addiction treatment services to neighboring regions such as New Haven and Bridgeport. MCCA has an accreditation from CARF and is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Patients who participate in detox at MCCA will be treated by medical and nursing professionals that will conduct 24 hour evaluation and withdrawal management. They help patients withdraw from alcohol and other substances. If necessary, staff members will use approved medication to reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms. During detox clients can also participate in self help groups and have access to a recovery coach. As patients go through the process of recovery staff members are already preparing a care plan for when the patient is ready for their next step in recovery.
The McDonough House provides assistance to individuals who are experiencing post acute withdrawal and need medically monitored care. The members of the staff include counselors, a medical team and service coordinators. During their stay you’ll do activities such as individual and group counseling and recreational therapy. This will help you build new relationships and find interests that you can focus on instead of substance use. Patients who complete the inpatient program are often transferred to an intensive outpatient program or a medium level residential facility depending on their needs.
