About McLeod Addictive Disease Center – Outpatient – Charlotte
Mcleod Centers for Wellbeing in Charlotte, North Carolina offered care services for individuals struggling with substance use disorder. The levels of care available at this facility used to include an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Clients could pay for these services through Medicare and Medicaid, and grant opportunities were available for those eligible.
This center on Clanton Road is closed, but they have other facilities in Charlotte that can assist you.
One benefit of outpatient care was that you would have had time to take care of your responsibilities outside of treatment and also get to spend time enjoying activities in Charlotte. You could choose to visit great attractions such as the NASCAR Hall of Fame or the Museum of Illusions.
The substance abuse intensive outpatient program met three to four times a week for three hours each session. You would have participated in this program for about eight to 10 weeks before you had the option of transitioning to continuing care once a week for six weeks. Your group sessions focused on developing your relapse prevention plan and learning how to use coping skills.
Individual sessions and family sessions were offered to clients. The evidence based therapeutic approaches that counselors will use primarily are motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Through medication assisted treatment, you could have received healing for both the physical and mental effects of your addiction. Medications such as methadone or buprenorphine were administered to you to minimize your physiological cravings and block the euphoric effects of opioids and alcohol.
In combination with medication, you were provided counseling to address the emotional aspects of your addiction, urinalysis testing to hold you accountable, and referral to community resources when necessary.
Even though this center is closed, McLeod has other programs that can assist you, including a residential program also in Charlotte.
