MHA in Fulton and Montgomery Counties – The Lighthouse is a transitional living facility. They’re based in Amsterdam, New York. Their welcoming facility has space for 12 adult women and up to six children at the preschool age. They also support pregnant women experiencing substance abuse problems.
The Lighthouse is an OASAS Community Residence. It acts as a stepping stone for women going through a treatment program or those who have already finished treatment but aren’t yet ready to live independently.
The Lighthouse is a supportive environment that helps women experiencing addiction get back on their feet and lead a fulfilling, productive life. They run several groups and programs to teach the women valuable life skills. These include setting goals, managing personal and family finances, and building self esteem. They provide referrals to other services when needed. Referrals can be made for parenting skills, educational planning, or mental health treatment.
On average, you’ll stay at The Lighthouse for between six months and a year. The length of stay depends on your recovery and needs. During your stay, they give you the opportunity to volunteer in the local community.
