About MHS – Needles Center for Change – Needles
Starting in 1978, MHS/TURNS’s Needles Center for Change was dedicated to improving the lives of folks battling substance abuse and behavioral challenges associated with co-occurring conditions. This nonprofit once helped clients with life skills programs, and DUI recovery to get your life back on track. They were found in Needles, California. However, their center is currently closed.
If you were encountering issues with staying on the path of sobriety, the center’s outpatient program would have been particularly helpful. It provided services related to individual and group counseling, treatment plans customized to your needs, and relapse prevention planning. The latter was the most important for some folks who needed help remaining sober despite the hurdles that they might stumble over in this messy obstacle course that we call life.
They might also have been able to assist those who need to make smarter decisions about their lives. I loved that it offered an educational program that lasted 16 weeks. This was super cool since they helped me understand how my substance abuse issues could impact myself and those around me and be recognizable as criminal activity.
Many also enjoyed the fact that this center cared about the environment. They provided a specific environmental prevention program that focused on communities to help them identify alcohol and drug use triggers that could influence teens. This program was significantly beneficial in highlighting the high risks of substance abuse.
Even though they’re gone, TURNs still has several centers nearby that can help. Don’t despair and check ‘em out.
