Michael’s House – Women’s Center

Located in Palm Springs, California, Michael’s House is a comprehensive addiction treatment center with a variety of programs and locations. They used to run a women’s center that focused on helping women who were battling drug and alcohol addictions. While Michael’s House as an organization is still open, this particular facility has closed. They accepted most major health insurance plans.

This was an inpatient center, but I like that they had a lot of recreational activities and were very comforting and welcoming. I also like that they helped with co-occurring mental health conditions and used medication-assisted treatment through Suboxone and methadone to help you detox in a safe way.

They were also big on using holistic methods to treat their clients, as well as infusing modalities of the 12-step program. When you went to this treatment center, your usual length of stay would be between 30 days and 60 days. They’d determine this based on the severity of your addiction and how quickly you assimilated to your new sober lifestyle.

This was a luxury residential program. It seemed like a good place to surround yourself with the right people and the right environment. The area was warm and rustic and had a community of really supportive professionals and even patients that could help you not feel alone throughout your journey. They also helped with pain management by offering physical medicine and rehabilitation services.

I like that they put women first here and gave them a chance to holistically focus on themselves and receive integrated treatment. Some of the other services they offered included learning different 12-step principles, taking life skills classes that could help you in the real world, individual therapy that could help you dig deep into your trauma to heal, and group therapy that could help you build a support system and get accountability from others.
