New Choices Recovery Center – Bridge Center is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Schenectady, New York. They are a residential facility for men who struggle with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They also have clients who struggle with a mental health issue and addiction issues at the same time.
The Department of Social Services or a parole officer can refer you. You can also be referred by an inpatient facility. Most people in the program stay there from four to six months.
The goal of this residential facility is to get you reintegrated into society. Treatment will include group therapy and individual counseling sessions. You will also attend community-based 12 Step meetings.
If you are able to work, the counselors there will help you to attain vocational training. They will help you with your resume and job interviewing skills. They will also provide training in basic life skills such as balancing a checkbook and housekeeping. You will also learn home safety skills.
The living environment is structured. You will have chores at the house, and you will have to adhere to curfews. You will have house meetings, and there will be staff members there who will answer questions and enforce rules.
