About New Horizon Recovery Center – Lithonia
New Horizon Recovery Center was a program under Teen Challenge Georgia International. While this specific location is permanently closed, the facility used to offer addiction treatment services and biblical solutions to teens and adults in Lithonia.
The center used to provide residential and outpatient care to individuals struggling with life-altering mental and behavioral issues, including substance abuse and addiction.
The team here understood that these issues don’t have to be permanent, and that with the right approach, behaviors can be adapted and changed for the better. Their approach operated on the principle that every individual has value, and channeled this into investing in individuals’ well being and self-improvement. This was done by educating clients about their addiction or problem behavior, and helping them develop a sense of responsibility and accountability.
Clients could also access support here to develop job skills to make them more employable, and open doors for them outside of the recovery process.
A specialized program designed for young men provided participants the opportunity to specifically address their substance abuse issues. This option provided its participants with a strong sense of community and peer support during a challenging time in their lives, while giving them opportunities to grow and change through faith-based treatment and activities.
