About New Oakland Family Centers – Livonia
New Oakland Family Centers is located in Livonia, Michigan. They’ve been providing innovative and compassionate mental health and substance abuse treatments for over 30 years. They have several different treatment centers throughout the state of Michigan that reach 30,000 patients with over 600,000 points of service. The Schoolcraft Rd facility in Livonia has substance use partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for children three and up, adolescents and adults.
Their PHP is called Face to Face. It is an intense therapy and treatment program done under medical supervision. It’s done in a warmer environment than most hospital programs and lasts six hours per day. This program is a core service provided by New Oakland Family Centers, which is what sets them apart from traditional substance use treatment programs.
Patients participate in groups during the day. Sessions can be three to five days a week depending on the needs or severity of substance abuse of each person. They have a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates each patient and their family to work toward a solution for their addiction problem. This program is done face to face at a standalone facility in a warm and nurturing environment that’s designed to help those with acute symptoms of addiction or substance abuse but who don’t pose an urgent risk to themselves or others. This includes increased symptoms, disturbances with behavior or other things that might contribute to mental or behavioral health issues.
Their prime mode of treatment is group therapy, but they have other services like individual or family therapy, psychological testing and evaluations, lab tests, education and transportation. Family participation is required for school aged children and recommended for adults as well.
This is a voluntary program that requires input and participation from each patient. It runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. The average program lasts seven to 10 days. They provide you with lunch and a snack every day you’re there and offer a ride to and from treatment sessions.
