About New Opportunities – Carroll
New Opportunities is an organization in Carroll, Iowa that offers outpatient treatment services for substance abuse disorder (SUD). They provide adults and adolescents with assessments, counseling, and referral services. Their services include intensive and extended outpatient care.
Counseling services are also available to friends and family who have been affected by a client’s addiction. The facility has been in operation for more than 30 years. Clients who have limited financial resources can pay for treatment through sliding scale fees. They also accept most private insurance plans.
In addition to its addiction recovery services, New Opportunities stands out for its Head Start program which helps improve the school readiness of children aged five and younger who come from low income families.
The facility gives clients the option of scheduling an assessment or walking in to be assessed on a first come first served basis. In partnership with UCS Healthcare clients can receive medication assisted treatment (MAT) if needed. It’s administered along with therapy to help make the withdrawal process as comfortable as possible. Clients have the option of receiving either methadone or Suboxone.
In the intensive outpatient program clients attend the facility nine hours a week for scheduled sessions and random drug testing. Patients receive education on responsible decision-making, relapse prevention, creating a supportive living environment and healthy coping skills.
The extended outpatient program provides education on similar substance use topics with clients attending the facility for fewer than nine hours. After completion of the program patients can begin the continuing care program. This involves individuals having one hour a month of individual or group sessions that focus on sustaining a recovery-based lifestyle.
