About Nexus Woodbourne Family Healing – Baltimore
Nexus Woodbourne Family Healing is a residential treatment facility located in Baltimore, Maryland. Their Baltimore residential facility has programs for boys and girls aged 12 to 18. There’s also a program for children in foster care as well.
The mission of this organization is to help support and develop strong family units and the residential program specifically targets youth who are struggling with their mental or behavioral health.
This residential treatment program can support children with varying mental health disorders while also addressing at risk behaviors including substance use.
Substance use is often a symptom of a much deeper mental health struggle. Here at Nexus Woodburn Family Healing, children will have access to evaluations, therapy, counseling, and other evidence based approaches to help them overcome their behavioral health struggles.
They also learn tangible skills to help manage mental health symptoms that are negatively impacting their life. There are research based techniques that are applied to children who’ve experienced trauma, grief, or sexual abuse as well.
If a child has developed a drug or alcohol addiction, they will get referred to specialized treatment to help them work through their substance use struggles
On site is the Woodbourne School and it’s specifically designed to help male residents in the treatment program who have not been successful with traditional schooling. This school utilizes a curriculum that is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Children can work through their academics without falling behind while receiving specialized mental health services, counseling, and a personalized learning environment that includes both experiential play and hands-on learning.
The vocational program offered through the school is a valuable resource for older students who are transitioning into independent living. This allows children to build a strong foundation for which to launch into independence after they complete treatment.
