About Northern Lakes Community Mental Health – Traverse City
Northern Lakes Community Mental Health is a unique treatment center for mental health and behavioral health in Traverse City, Michigan. What makes them unique is that they’re part of a public program, so the services they provide and who’s eligible for those services are very specific.
This facility is part of a specific public program in Michigan called the Northern Michigan Regional Entity, which provides mental health care for people who receive Medicaid. This is a prepaid health plan in Michigan which lets this facility and select other locations provide services to eligible recipients in Grand Traverse County and five other counties in Northern Michigan. Basically what this means is that you can only get treatment here if you qualify for the program, but if you do then you receive services for little or no cost.
This clinic is limited in what they can treat because of the specialized program. They can treat co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, so you can get treatment for a dual diagnosis here if you qualify. They can’t provide treatment for addiction as a standalone condition, though. So if that’s what you need, you can contact the Northern Michigan Regional Entity and they’ll connect you to a facility that’s right for you.
The treatment at this facility takes a person centered approach. Your care team will work with you to find out what you need for recovery and create an individualized treatment plan that addresses both your addiction and your mental health.
Some previous clients have expressed frustration with poor communication and limited services. However, others say their treatment here has been an excellent help.
