About NorthShore Deerfield Behavioral Health Center – Deerfield

Deerfield Behavioral Health is a facility that provides psychiatry and behavioral services to adolescents and adults in Evanston, Illinois. The levels of care available at this location are the intensive outpatient program and the after school intensive outpatient program. The facility can also refer individuals to addiction treatment services at the Doreen E Chapman Center.

The facility has a multidisciplinary team that includes board certified psychiatrists, licensed social workers, and registered nurses. They also have a chemical dependency consultant to advise on issues related to substance use.

Staff members focus on helping adolescents develop stress management skills to better manage their emotions. In cases where a mental illness may be making distress tolerance difficult, a psychiatrist can prescribe medications to assist with symptom management. With your loved one’s symptoms managed, they’ll be less likely to pursue unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance use.

In some cases, clients may need more intensive services to treat their addiction. The facility can refer individuals to addiction recovery services at a separate location a part of the Evanston Hospital.

The Doreen E Chapman Center treats individuals who have substance use disorder as well as co occurring disorders. An onsite addiction psychiatrist and other staff members will help create an individualized treatment plan that fits the client’s needs.

Outside of treatment sessions, a relaxing place that the whole family can enjoy is the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve. It features rolling terrain and trails where you can go skiing, biking and hiking.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
